Se puede decir con seguridad que firmar un contrato discográfico y ser elegido para un programa de televisión al mismo tiempo no es una forma típica de que una banda comience su carrera.

En 2009, Big Time Rush cambió la historia de las bandas de chicos cuando su programa de televisión del mismo nombre comenzó a emitirse en Nickelodeon. A través de Nick Records, el grupo lanzó su álbum debut, BTR, en 2010, promocionando muchos de los sencillos del álbum durante la primera temporada del programa. La carrera musical y televisiva de Big Time Rush continuaría en esta relación simbiótica hasta 2013, cuando después de cuatro temporadas en Nickelodeon, tres álbumes, múltiples giras y un largometraje, el programa de televisión Big Time Rush llegó a su fin. El grupo continuó de gira hasta principios de 2014, antes de aceptar hacer una pausa, lo que permitió a los cuatro miembros explorar carreras en solitario.

No fue hasta 2021 que Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, Carlos PenaVega y Logan Henderson se reunieron para nuevos shows en vivo, con su sencillo de regreso 'Call It Like I See It', que llegó en diciembre de ese año. A lo largo de 2022, el grupo lanzó varios sencillos que no forman parte de álbumes y realizó su gira Forever por Estados Unidos y Sudamérica. En febrero de 2023, Big Time Rushed lanzó 'Can't Get Enough', el sencillo principal de su nuevo álbum de estudio Another Life, que llegó ese junio. Junto con el lanzamiento del álbum, el grupo anunció la gira Can't Get Enough.

En febrero de 2025, la banda anunció la gira BIG TIME RUSH - IN REAL LIFE WORLDWIDE.
